People

last updated 2026-07-10

FAIR Press is founded and run by two statisticians. Small on purpose: the machinery is automated so that the people can be accountable.

Founders

  • Matthias Templ — FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, Olten, Switzerland.
  • Jürgen Degenfellner — ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland.

The founders serve as the founding editors of the Journal of Reproducible Statistics. Their research field — statistics, with a focus on reproducible computation and statistical disclosure control — is the journal's subject matter, and the privacy-preserving data service rests on that expertise.

A board is forming

A broader, institutionally independent editorial and advisory board is being formed and will be announced — each member with name, affiliation and country — on this page and on the journal's editorial board page. We list people when they have actually agreed to serve, not before.

Accountability while we are small

  • Every editorial decision is read and signed by a named editor.
  • The founders do not publish their own research in FAIR Press journals.
  • Appeals are heard independently of whoever signed the contested decision, and founder-conflicted cases go to an arbiter external to the company (see the journal's complaints & appeals procedure).
